Cabin in the Woods

Over the 4th of July Weekend, we took a spontaneous trip to Demorest, GA, which is in the North GA Mountains. We stayed in a little cabin in the woods that was near the meeting point of the Soqui & Chattahoochee Rivers. We got to stick our toes in the water & play on the rocks -- a very nice trip!!

We also went into the nearby town of Helen to take Ashley to a little amusement park. She went crazy in this car! She must be paying attention to what Grandpa is teaching her every Sunday afternoon while they watch the race.

First Words

As of August '06 (17 months old), Ashley has yet to speak many words. She started out saying This, Mama, Dada, and Eh-woah? (Hello?) with the phone up to her ear, although she just says each one for a little while & then moves on to the next one. However, she has been very effective in getting her point across -- through pointing, grunting, and making affirmative or negatory faces. Then, in the last couple of weeks, she began making sounds that REALLY sound like sentences, like "I want duck", "I want muff (muffin)", "I dance", "I touch?" It's one of those things where you stop & say, "did she just say that?". Regardless, it's all very cute. :)
