Celebrating All Saints All Week!

We've had the chance to celebrate All Saints' Day a lot this week! First, on Saturday, we went to an All Saints' Picnic. All the kids dressed up like saints and there was a "Guess the Saint" game. The kids knew a lot! Here's a group shot:

Ashley was not into dressing up for the game, but I threw the costume on her just before the group shot. Can you tell that she is Mary? She wouldn't even hold the doll, so Baby Jesus is lying on the ground next to her.

Here's Ashley and Jacob playing around
Each family also brought a poster depicting their patron saints. Here's ours:

(from the top, left to right: Mary - Queen of all Saints, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Cecilia, St. Nicholas, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Rose)

Then after it was dark we did a candlelit, processional litany through the woods, stopping at each poster to ask the intercessions of each saint. We sang the litany: St. Joseph, pray for us . . . St Therese, pray for us . . . it was really beautiful.

Then, Ashley's preschool had a Saints & Angels Parade this week. It was quite cute. Ashley broke rank and came running over when she saw us, "MOMMY!!"

There they go!

We did also make a "costume" for Vinny as St. Michael the Archangel, but this is all that's left of it:
It's his first sword. It was bound to come sometime. :)

What a little saint in the making (or perhaps I should say, she's making us into saints. ;) )

Saints in heaven, pray for us!

I love this post! This last picture of Ashley is so sweet. Way to go Vinny on standing and getting mom to trust you with a sword :)
