What's in a Name?

Ashley has been starting to learn people's names recently -- she said "John Paul" the other day & she calls her little friend Olivia "my girl-hend". We saw Olivia over the weekend and at one point I was changing Ashley's diaper on the floor. Olivia came over and Ashley tells her, "Big poop, my hend!!" I'm sure Olivia wanted to know that.

Then, poor Auntie Amy -- Ashley started out doing the sign for Aunt a while back, then recently she started saying "Eee-tie". Now, it has become "Tee-tee". You can imagine that Grandpa is continually reinforcing that one.

However, he gets it, too. He has wanted Ashley to say Grandpa since before she was born. However, Ashley calls both of our moms "Mom" and calls my dad "Dad". (Pop won this race, as she has been saying "Pop" now for a few months.) Everyday Grandpa does a lesson with Ashley: He says & points to each letter of the alphabet and she repeats them back, one by one. Then, he flips the page over and she repeats each letter written on that page: G-R-A-N-D-P-A. What does that spell, he asks? "Dad!"
